My wife Stormi and I have many roles in life. We enjoy a night out with friends, home improvement projects, and we really enjoy cramming every single one of us into the bathroom every night as we give our son a bath. We are someone's parents, someone's children, but before all of that; we are each others spouse. I mean, she may not like hop saturated beer as much as I do and I definitely don't like country music as much as she does, but every day we still focus on trying to find things that bring us closer together.
Amos and Jessica have strong commonalities. They both work and dedicate their time at their church and it is obvious how much they enjoy their service. Jessica graduated from Indiana Wesleyan University and actually ended up having her reception in their beautiful building. This was the first lunch timed wedding and reception that I've ever shot and the laid back feel of the whole day was so refreshing. The ceremony was gorgeous, the weather was perfect, and there was such a feel of contentment in that room. There were so many speeches at this wedding, which I thought was so awesome because it really painted such a picture of the generous, kind, and giving hearts that these two have.
I'm sure Jessica and Amos have their differences. They won't agree on everything and I'm sure there will be times when he will have to suffer through the occasional chick flick (been there, done that.) But in that moment at the end of the movie when our manly persona fades and we find ourselves stupid selves getting teary eyed and sinking in our seat, we realize that marriage is a sacrifice. Because what we don't have in common is just as important as what we do. That is how we grow. And as we wipe our unmasculine tears away, we a) hope no one noticed and b) know that we wouldn't want any other pretty little woman sitting beside us. That's marriage. That's love.
I couldn't be happier for Amos and Jessica to share this life together because I know they will enjoy it so much more now that they share the same last name. Congratulations to you both!
