I have shot many, many weddings in my career and even had one of my own and I am still blown away each time at how unique each one truly is. Though each wedding follows a similar agenda; it is always a treat to know that it is never just business as usual. Every wedding I am a part of is a day that names itself a memory in my mind because each one is so different. Each one is so intertwined with special details and soft touches that are so in tune with the bride and groom.
I was lucky enough to be asked to shoot Jessica and Kyle’s wedding on the 6th of this month. It was a cold December day that made me thankful for the warm welcome I felt, as always, from Jessica and Kyle as well as their entire bridal party. The day started off at the salon where all of these girls got glitzed and glammed. Up-do’s, makeup, and glitter aren’t my specialty- but they looked great and the pictures prove it!
This was the first Christmas themed wedding I have ever shot and I am so proud of how well the theme was able to come across in the photos. The church was absolutely gorgeous. It was decorated beautifully to fit the Christmas feel and the balcony and stained glass brought it all together.
The ceremony went off without a hitch. Jessica looked flawless walking down the isle and her white dress really popped in contrast to her bridesmaids all dressed in red. This couple lit their unity candle, exchanged their rings and vows, and ended with a delicate kiss to seal the deal. It’s always rewarding to see a couple at one of the most vulnerable moments in their relationship; at a time where you know their words ring true and they really mean the vows they speak. That was obvious with Kyle and Jessica.
The couple and their bridal party took off to the reception in a giant stretch limo after saying their thank-you’s and greeting all their guests. The reception was so festively decorated with ornaments, jingle bells, and mistletoe. The guests were hilarious. I love capturing a reception with a full dance floor. This bridal party was so unique and full of big personalities that were exceptionally shown off with their dance moves! (Haha, yep- my camera caught it all!) My wife, who assisted me this time around, says that this is the most photogenic bridal party she’s ever seen. And THAT is music to a photographer’s ears.
All in all, this wedding was just as great as I knew it would be when I met Kyle and Jessica a couple months ago. They are truly amazing people with immeasurable chemistry and hearts of gold. I can’t say enough about them and their hospitality and ability to make us feel welcome. So, as they return from Jamaica and life once again becomes ‘business as usual’ I hope that they look back on their wedding photos and it really brings them back to this day. The happiest day of their lives and one that will forever be a memory in mine. Congratulations, Kyle and Jessica!
